Filling someone’s “bucket” is when you use actions or words that show someone you care about them.

Have You Filled A Bucket Today?

Filling someone’s “bucket” is when you use actions or words that show someone you care about them. It’s saying or doing something kind, and being respectful. You fill a person’s bucket when you give someone a heartfelt smile or help them without being asked. Giving sincere compliments is a way to fill someone’s bucket, too!  There are hundreds of wonderful ways to fill buckets.  And you know what else?  When you fill someone else’s bucket…yours gets filled too!

Each of us have an invisible bucket that can be filled all day long by the kindness and thoughtfulness of the people around us.  In our classroom you will also have a real bucket for your friends to fill.  It’s a place where your classmates can write a kind word, a compliment, or an encouragement for you to read.  You can also write a note to a friend to let them know how they filled your bucket, like “Aimee, you filled my bucket when you helped me pick up all of the things that fell out of my pencil box.”

Every so often we will “empty” our buckets and read our special notes!  You’ll even have a chance to share your favorite one with the class.  Then you’ll get to take your notes home and share them with your family.
